Translation Premiere: Ludmilla

  • Gosforth Civic Theatre Regent Farm Road Newcastle upon Tyne, England, NE3 3HD United Kingdom (map)

George performs in his own new translation of Ludmilla, a 1944 cabaret-operetta by Willy Rosen and Erich Ziegler. Written, produced and performed by Jewish prisoners in Westerbork transit camp, this madcap comedy tells the story of a young woman torn between two fighting suitors.

The cast features the two latest winners of the Kurt Weill Foundation’s prestigious Lotte Lenya Competition: baritone George Robarts (2025) and mezzo-soprano Lila Chrisp (2026).

For the Brundibár Arts Festival in Newcastle upon Tyne, dedicated to the Music and Arts of the Holocaust.
