One English gentleman with more money than sense.
One mutinous chambermaid seeking a life of luxury.
What can possibly go wrong?

The Revolting Maid is an award-winning new translation of Pergolesi’s classic domestic comedy La serva padrona. The unruly chambermaid Medusa is fed up with her hard-hearted boss Sir Hubert and his unreasonable demands – so she sets a trap to turn the tables on him.

George’s new English libretto won the 2024 Dryden Translation Prize, and was awarded a generous funding grant from the City Music Foundation to bring the show to stage.

This pocket opera can be played any time, anywhere. It involves just two singers, six instrumentalists, and one unsuspecting audience member.

In March 2025 our new production premiered to an enthusiastic reception at 22 Mansfield Street.

Plans are in progress for a tour of festivals and local venues in 2025–26.
